We love This restaurant.
Nice comfortable space for everyday lunch or dinner.
My girls love to come here, the good is great and so are the prices.
Very happy to have this neighborhood gem so close. -

So initial thought is kinda dark place tucked away on 2nd ave.
Do the images on Yelp are kinda old and not representative of what the place looks like now. Was a bit sketched out though seeing the fish being taken from the kitchen to the preparation area, for whatever reason didn't look the freshest.
But to the important part, the food. I got the lunch special for $13.50, which by NYC standards is pretty good. Three rolls (so in my case shrimp tempura, spicy yellowtail, crawfish and avocado). Yellowtail was meh, could've easily been tuna and I would be none the wiser. The tempura and crawfish were really good. Some crispness but not too overbearing and actually not bland like some places.
All in all, good place to go to if on second avenue or overall east midtown. -

This was a small little find in the upper 50s on the east side. The only thing was I didn't know they closed at 10 pm on Fridays and we arrived at 9 pm. The sushi was so delicious as well as the Kirin light. They went so well together. The wait staff was very nice as well and that was a plus. It was quiet so it gave us time to talk with one another.

The sushi here is amazing! I have been a few times at the old location and the most recent at the new location. The sushi is always fresh, good size rolls, and a great selection. They also have great saki/beer deals. If you want some good sushi at a place you can trust, Dai Hachi is the the place to go.

We stumbled along to Dai Hachi in NYC and walked away impressed! The location is evidently a new location for them. It is clean, new and the staff is very attentive. The food hit the mark times 10! We started with the spicy seafood soup....does not disappoint!! The sushi was FRESH and served to perfection. The menu is creative and serves up all the expected dishes one would look for at a Japanese restaurant. Service was excellent!
Will be returning!!!
